Introduction

If you've made it as far as my blog PLEASE leave a comment if you read any of my reviews, this helps me by proving to me that someone is reading my reviews! I can also visit your blog in return.

Are you looking for ideas for something to read? Pull up a chair and read some of my reviews, I hope you'll find something to entertain you. We may even find we share very similar reading tastes.

Here on my book blog you'll find my personal thoughts about books I've read, mostly fiction - primarily books written by women authors - twisty psychological chillers, domestic noir and historical/ dual time dramas.

I spend a huge part of my time choosing books, reading them and reviewing and chatting about them, on websites and forums so began this blog about books too and it's become an important factor in my life.

Here's a bit about me ... now in my 50's I was an only child, taught to read at the age of 3 by my Mum (to keep me occupied and out of her hair)

When I left school I worked as a library assistant for 6 years, then went on to work at WH Smiths wholesale as a bookseller.

More recently I worked as an Area Book sales Rep for Heinemann library selling books to school libraries. I now work part time as a sales consultant, so have more time to indulge my passions of reading, beading and sewing.

I like entering competitions and prize draws, especially books, and will post links to any good giveaways I come across and competitions with a literary theme.

I'm also happy to consider advance reading copies of books to review. If you're an author or publisher who'd like me to review a book for you I'd love to hear from you by email.

Acceptance of a book doesn't guarantee a review, I only blog about the best of the crop. However I have an active Twitter account with over 950 followers, most of them authors, publishers and fellow bookbloggers and I nearly always tweet enthusiastically about books I've received and plan to read.

If my thoughts and opinions help you find a new author, or book to enjoy that's brilliant my job is done!

  1. Hi Jan,
It's wonderful to find you and your blogspot! I feel relatively sae in asking you for a review in that my book fits more than a couple of your specified genres!
My name is Helen Bea Kirk and my 240 page novel is called, What Matters Most. I am self published. I realize that can be a turnoff for many reviewers who are tired of endless editing mistakes!
What Matters Most is available for 1.00 on Amazon. (Published yesterday) I would be happy to gift you a copy or mail you a paperback... or both!
I haven't told my family about this book bc I don't want their sympathetic review - I want honest reviews from people like yourself, who read these genres.
Please let me know if my book has a fighting chance of being reviewed by you.
    Thanks,
    Helen
